What Will the Singularity Feel Like?
The Singularity may be closer than we think. It may happen sooner than we think, and it may also be more painful. There are many possibilities for this event, and there are many people who are unsure of what it will feel like. For starters, there is the possibility of an imbalance in the population, which will cause an increase in crime. But the Singularity may also bring about a delicious irony. We will not have killer Skynet machines to kill us.
One of the most popular theories about the Singularity is the notion of exponential change. This concept was first put forth by science fiction author and computer scientist, Vernor Vinge. He predicted that in five years, the number of transistors in a modern computer would double. The idea of exponential change was born from this idea. In the beginning, technology would advance slowly, but later would advance at an increasing rate. However, there are concerns that this trend will slow down, as transistors will eventually reach their physical limits, and that there will be no quick path to intelligent machines.
The Singularity may come when man no longer relies on himself. Instead, he will have to collaborate with sophisticated computers that can overcome all of the challenges of living. By this time, man will no longer be the only one relying on his own intelligence, and he will need the help of complex machines to do everything he needs to. And as he becomes more advanced, his mind will continue to improve.
