The Thoughts of We

There are many theories on how the Singularity will feel and look. We have heard about Leonardo da Vinci’s work and the ability of people to solve problems by inventing things. This will happen to us as well, with AI able to solve a variety of problems. We may experience this phenomenon, but how will we know that it’s coming? We will have to wait and see.

Despite these fears, the Singularity is still a very real possibility. While accelerating technological change will eventually produce superhuman intelligence, there are some important things we must keep in mind in order to make this world a better place. If we fail to protect ourselves, we will fall prey to the technological hordes that will try to take our jobs, and this will create a situation where man cannot survive.

We should also consider the physical extinction of our race. While this may be the scariest of all possibilities, it is not the most probable. With nanotechnology enabling the creation of robots and computer programs, it is possible to do anything we want. For example, government might decide that humans are no longer needed. This scenario is extremely unlikely, but it is possible. There are still niches for human equivalent automation, such as sex workers and doctors.
