While you may permanently gain more stamina in Valheim, only you can regularly increase it by eating certain food items. Each food item grants you a bonus when eaten, with several boosting your stamina and health as long as they are in your inventory. For example, while eating a Golden Eye mushroom will give you +3 stamina at the start of every game session, this buff will not last forever as it does not last for more than 7 game sessions. However, eating a couple of patch mushrooms will boost your stamina by +5 each time, lasting for a good number of game sessions.
The most effective food to increase stamina is not really food, but rather running, as the effect is not only immediate but also sustains itself after a few hours. While this might seem obvious, many players overlook the importance of running in their efforts to increase their stamina and instead focus mainly on doing different exercises in order to reach a higher level of endurance. However, while running does indeed help increase your endurance, it is much better to combine running with other forms of endurance exercises. These exercises include sprinting, lifting weights, jogging, swimming and cycling, which all aid in burning calories and building up your endurance as well as increasing your muscular strength.
