How to Be More Human
How to be more human is more often thought of as a question, but not necessarily as a lesson in philosophy. We all have goals and desires in life, and to live well, behave honorably, and achieve all those things that we wish for is important. So the question “How to be more human?” should really start with how we wish to live, and then go from there. There are ways to live better, and there are ways to be more human.
On the most basic level, we want to know that we can have all of the basic needs met: shelter, food, water, clothing, and friendship. We want security – and we want it now. We don’t want to wait another moment to enjoy these basic human rights. We also don’t want to be among the millions who have no jobs, and the means to support themselves. It’s a very narrow and selfish way of looking at things, but unfortunately, it’s also the way too many of us see the world.
So, instead of being so focused on how to be more human, ask yourself what kind of person you want to be. What kind of goals do you have for yourself? Are you a happy, peaceful person, or one filled with anxiety, depression, fear, and anger? When you know the answers to these questions, you can make choices that will support you in getting what you want out of life.
