Why Do People Love Music?

Why do humans love music and why is it that some of the greatest musical geniuses of all time are also the most respected living persons in their respective fields? This is an age of commercialism and instant gratification, where everything is done at the click of a mouse. It would appear that everyone has a digital device of some kind and uses that technology to the maximum. The question then arises, why does the music industry continue to thrive even when so many other industries are collapsing around it? The answer to this riddle lies with the “music is good for you” ethos that is ingrained into our society.

According to this line of thinking, music has the ability to calm us down, and so it is a form of art. In addition to this, the argument goes on to say that music helps the brain to process information better, which makes it the ultimate healer. If we can prove these points using scientific research, then it appears that the entertainment industry might just have a leg up on any other sector in this respect.

It’s interesting to speculate about the reason as to why people love music. Although the answers may remain elusive to most of the population, we can all agree on one thing – there is something magical about music. Perhaps this is because music touches something in all of us that is much deeper than the rational mind is able to comprehend. Perhaps it is because music taps into our emotions and soothes us with its soothing tones. Whatever the reason, music is a universal language that is loved by billions of people worldwide, and will continue to be loved as long as humanity exists.
